About Me
As I shared earlier, I’m a mama to three small boys, our black lab and my mother-in-law’s son. We struggled with fertility while trying to start our family and when I finally found out I was pregnant, I suddenly realized I knew everything about getting pregnant, but nothing about being postpartum. Hearing so much today about postpartum disorders, I decided to surround myself with the best postpartum support team possible. I hired an incredible postpartum doula who taught me how to build a village and plan for postpartum during my prenatal days, nourished me with warm foods and drinks, and listened to and encouraged me throughout the fourth trimester.
Unfortunately, when I became pregnant a second time, my postpartum doula was also pregnant, so we were unable to work together the second time around. I missed looking forward to her visits while my husband was at work. I missed the warm meals and drinks she prepared each visit that I could heat up whenever hunger struck. I missed the conversation that is sometimes easier to share with a neutral third party of how I was really doing, the sleep deprivation, the feeding, my own body healing, and other challenges from the newborn days. But I especially missed her dedication to helping me remember myself. She would walk through the door and ask “what is the one thing you want to get done while I’m here?” Sometimes it was sleep, sometimes it was a bath and sometimes it was just to snuggle the baby and catch up in conversation.
It was these two vastly different postpartum experiences that convinced me we need more women in this space, caring and nurturing mothers during such an important time.
As a certified prenatal & postpartum yoga teacher and a Newborn Mothers Collective postpartum doula graduate, I am incredibly passionate about caring for mothers during this tender time. My dream is to help women prepare for a peaceful postpartum season with the goal to leave mothers feeling confident, nourished, strong, and nurtured. Postpartum three times now, plus the education for caring for women during this season, I believe that supporting mothers through their postpartum experience is incredibly meaningful and important work.
Again, I’m so glad you’re here and I hope one of my services will help you during your postpartum season.
